TITLE: Accidental Meeting Logged by: Ashton DATE: 04-27-02 ============================================================================ Characters: Ashton Rruka ============================================================================ Ashton A powerfully built man whose eyes and smile coincide with his young and athletic-looking physique. Averaging these two factors, a guess that the human male is somewhere in his early to mid-twenties is close to accurate. His light brown, almost sandy-brown hair is shoulder-length with slight curls at the end. He has light hazel eyes, more green than brown, but this changes with his mood or outlook. His beard is slightly darker than his hair color and actually adds a few years to his appearance. He is average in height; no more than five foot ten inches tall. Ashton is wearing a worn-looking, gray flight jacket, made of a soft nerfhide. The jacket is light enough to wear indoors and still seems like it could withstand the elements rather well. Under the jacket is a collared shirt, designed in a muted shade of blue. His pants are black and tucked into a pair of comfortable-looking shin-high boot. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rruka A smallish Trianii is this rather cheery black and white feline. His eyes are a brilliant green and gold hidden in a black cap that extends around the top of his head. A white blaze is perfectly positioned between his eyes. His lower face is purest white except for his black nose and a few large freckles of black around his chin. His fur appears slightly long but baby fine. Other markings are hidden beneath a tunic of a soft slate grey. White hands appear out of the folds of the darker slate robe. More black freckling shows on the clawed fingers. A few blotches appear on the wrists. At his small feline feet are soft boots that soften his step and give him a more civilized look. His black ears have a slight tuft to them. His whiskers are bright white and stand out on the black cap pattern of his head fur. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scepter Park -- Coronet Corellia The park spans a mile across and several miles deep. Pathways weave in and out of trees bushes, and well-groomed grass along the edge of one of the largest lakes on Corellia. Benches and Ramada's are strategically placed to take advantage of the most scenic areas. Paddleboats can be seen dotting the surface of the lake, and off in the distance is a small stall, which rents them. A plethora of wild bird-life can be found in the park for the avid birdwatchers of Corellia. The park isn't as full tonight as it usually is this time of year. The recent rain probably has something to do with that, leaving most of the park wet and slightly cold in the evening breezes. Amidst this, off the beaten path and in a partially enclosed clearing, a lone man stands. Slowly, his hands move, and his feet move him forward in an odd-looking type of ceremonial dance. Well, not dance so much as a patterned set of moves. No weapon is evident on the man, but he isn't bothered by the occasional seedy character that passes through the park. Rruka has decided to enjoy the quiet beauty of the rain doused park. He sniffs deeply, feeling more at peace in this wooded area then the most luxurious room that could be offered. He smiles at the tingly sensation that sweeps through him. His unbooted feet feel the moisture and soft touch of the grass. A sigh of contentment escapes the young Trianii. As he strolls along he stops to sniff flowers or admire a few squirrel-like critters that live in the trees here. Finally it comes to his attention that there is someone working out? He continues to approach, mostly to admire the movements. There is always a chance to learn. Ashton moves forward, his eyes closed and body moving in perfect rhythm as if a cadence were playing and each step was planted in pace with the tempo. The form is not one most would recognize, considering he'd spent the past several months out along the rim, where he discovered a religious group that taught it to him. As passive as it appears to be, the patterns weave an aggressive, forward pattern. His eyes closed, the Knight pauses for a fraction of a second, and then steps through into the next set of movements. "Evening, padawan..." His voice seems to carry only far enough for the Trianni to hear. Rruka chuckles softly, "I could shave myself bald and dress like a Tusken raider yet you would see me. It is good to see you Ashton. Your movements are intriguing. Were they difficult to learn? I have not seen their like. I enjoy watching others. I hope you don't mind an audience." Ashton shakes his head as he pivots towards the Jedi student and moves three steps forward in quick succession. He's still a few feet away from Rruka and he again pivots, moving to the left. "Not at all... and you're getting harder to sense, Rruka. You're getting stronger in the Force." Coming to a halt, he pivots again, brings his hands up together in front of himself and clasps one over the other, which is fisted. And with that, the exhibition, or workout is over. He leans down and picks up his jacket, which is only slightly damp on the outside. "Those I learned it from called it Chali-kara... 'dance of the hunter'." Rruka nods, "It's taken much time learning and dodging my master to get this good." he smirks showing the mischievous streak isn't gone...just better channeled. "But I have been using my time well. I've become more at peace with my role in the force. And learned to use my lacking and special abilities. I see where envy has no place as where others are more gifted. I too have my own unique abilities to add. If everyone was nerf meat then the stew of life would truly be boring would it not? Especially since I think Bantha milk is tastier...." He grins and laughs again at his own strange ramblings. "Have you been well? I miss our trainings together" Ashton smiles easily, something he doesn't do often anymore. "I've been busy. Not too sure if that's being 'well', but it's been a learning experience." Shrugging into his jacket, he approaches the padawan, stepping onto the paved path. "Mostly been on out of the way worlds, visiting peoples that have little interest in the Republic or its problems. Quite an enlightening experience, actually. I guess I'd always seen the Jedi Order as a part of the Republic, but in a sense, they're simply centralized in the middle of known space." Taking the lead, he starts walking down the path of the park. "How's things at the Praxeum? It's been a while since I've been there..." Rruka grins a bit, "Believe it or not, it has been a while since I myself was at the Praxeum....not that I find it a loss. It is quieter here in ways and noisier in others. I like it here. Maybe when they let me follow you to some of those worlds. I'd like to learn that dance. It's a lot like Tai's kata that he taught me." A slight frown appears and is quickly covered as much as he can so that the Knight won't notice. Ashton quirks an eyebrow at the last reaction of the Padawan, but he doesn't pursue it. At least, not right away. "What do you mean, follow me? Isn't your master traveling?" He shakes his head, "I guess everyone teaches differently. But once you pass your trials, you'll be able to travel more freely." He slows his step a bit and tilts his head, "It doesn't look like I'll be helping much with training new students for some time... the Council has me on other matters right now. It might be some time before I can return to the Praxeum." He lifts an eyebrow, turning his head to Rruka. "You, however, shouldn't be dodging your master if you plan on making it through your trials. Learning about the Force without the aid of a teacher is inviting trouble, Rruka..." Rruka smirks slightly and nods, "I'm working with Moira right now and I believe Master Phanton is still around as well as a few other knights. I believe I am well watched despite my being alone. I managed to battle Ba'sha and survive....but I have redoubled my thoughts on finding OTHER ways to get out of a situation. I would have died had Moira not appeared. Phanton completed the healing. But yes, it is dangerous to learn the force by one's self. My interactions with Tividious have taught me there are many fine lines which too easily could be crossed to bring one's thought to the dark side." Ashton nods, understanding pretty well it would seem. As the pair nears a more populated area, Ashton's Force presence seems to recede slightly as he shields he and Rruka's presence, in case someone was nearby that could detect them. All of this is done without much concentration on the part of the Jedi Knight. "Well, perhaps in a way, this is part of your trials. Every padawan passes through some sort of pretrial of their own before being tested by the Masters." As the pair nears the edge of the park, Ashton slows his step again. "How is Moira, by the way?" Rruka says, "She seems much better. All the confusion with Tai I don't believe is helping her. I've not seen her for a few days but I figure it is her way of dealing with things." He walks a bit more, "What were your trials like? I heard some were terrible in many ways." Ashton shrugs, "So long ago... they were..." A slight pause, and then a smirk emerges as he remembers his own Master. "They were ... interesting." But he seems to have latched onto something about Rruka's comment and turns to him with a concerned look. "What is it? What's going on with Tai Jinn?" He really doesn't seem to have been caught up on recent events with the other Knights of the Praxeum. Rruka's overall confusion with that situation is obvious. "H....he died? I think. And I saw him afterward standing before us but....not there. And then there's some stuff with a lady that Siobhan was questioning....and I'm not the one to ask..." Ashton furrows an eyebrow again, this time unsure about what to say. Instead, knowing the Trianni would never lie to him, he decides to see what Rruka remembers. Reaching out with the Force, he probes the Trianni's memories, calling up the scattered memories surrounding this issue and learns that Rruka really wasn't the one to ask to get the answers he is now looking for. He had intentionally softened his probe and even notified the padawan mentally that he was there. His training had clearly refined itself in his quiet time with the Force. Frowning, he relaxes, nodding to the Padawan. "I'd better see if I can find some answers. Looks like Tanaab will have to wait. I'm going back to Coruscant." He claps the padawan on the shoulder once as he turns slightly, getting ready to leave. "And Rruka... while it is important to listen to the wisdom of the Masters and teachers, they cannot tell you what the Force is trying to tell you. Learn to seek the wisdom of the Force ... and don't question what it tells you." Rruka nods and smiles a bit more, "I'm sorry I wasn't more help. I try to come here and clear my mind and self of my confusion. It works sometimes. I want to speak to Moira but she is also affected. Maybe my master might know what to do." ** The two separate, each leaving the park in a different direction. **
